     I.      UNCLE TOM’S MISSION Visitors come to Penzance and the family decides to go to Uncle Tom’s house for Christmas.

 II.      THE FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH A SPIRIT Little Walter meets the ghost of the family, a young girl who lived at the time of the first Elizabeth.

III.      THE YOUNG MAN BY THE SEA The pugs see the young woman’s suitor arrive and don’t like him. Charles the Crab prophesizes.

IV.      RATTLE BRINGS A GIRL TO CALL Rattle, once owner of the Count of Wuf, comes visiting with a distant relative. The pugs don’t like her either.

 V.      THE PROCESSION The pugs see the arrival of Elizabeth I and her court. They are coming to celebrate Christmas in the old wing.

VI.      IGGY AND THE OLD QUEEN In the very old wing of the house, Iggy meets the queen from long ago.

VII.      THE BALL AND THE WOMAN Iggy and Mac attend a ball given by the queen in the old wing. There they talk with Elizabeth and watch a woman who is in a conspiracy with their young cousin’s suitor.

VIII.      THE ARRIVAL OF THE FAMILY As the queen watches, unseen, the rest of the family, human and pug, arrive.

IX.      MICHAEL FINDS THE PICTURE In a ‘bad room’ in the old wing, Michael and Mac find a strange picture which is the likeness both of the dark woman at the ball and the mysterious woman who accompanied Rattle on his visit.

 X.      THE PUGS AND A PROPHECY Once again Charles the Crab offers a hazy glimpse into the future.

XI.      RATTLE AND THE GIRL RETURN Rattle returns with the woman, who meets Bessie and tries to have a look a something the old wing.

XII.      armageddon As the conspiracy explodes, the pugs find themselves embattled. Walter is thrown from a window into the sea; while Iggy, Mac and Wuffie fight for their lives.

XIII.      AFTER ARMAGEDDON Rattle sees to the pugs and tells Bessie what her saw of their bravery.

XIV.      A TRANQUIL INTERLUDE Wuffie is reunited with Louisa and his new offspring; Andrew, Michael and Rattle go visiting and Bessie learns from the ghost of her cousin that there will be a ball for all: pugs, humans and spirits.

XV.      THE SETTLING OF THE SPIRITS Great preparations are made for the ball.

XVI.      A NEW CELEBRATION IN THE OLD WING Everyone attends the ball, including Lucy and the Blessed Benedictus, and there is delight enough for everyone.

XVII.      THE HALLOWED, GRACIOUS TIME On Christmas eve, the family dines and prepares presents. At midnight, the Proud Pugs of Penzance attend midnight mass with Uncle Thomas and see wonders.
